Retaining Walls and Basement Construction

Falcon has used their expertise and ability to carry out work in restricted areas to good effect in stabilising failing retaining walls and constructing new basements in existing properties.

Case One

Falcon maintained the stability of the existing wall during the construction of a new reinforced concrete wall on an extremely restricted site with difficult access. All spoil and materials were removed through a ground floor flat, the only way of accessing the work. The new retaining wall provided a stable, cost effective solution to a dangerous and complicated problem.

In this typical case, an existing brick retaining wall had suffered extensive movement due to general dilapidation, soil pressure and ground movement.

Case Two

Falcon constructed a contiguous bored piled wall in this building in order to facilitate the construction of a new basement. The walls were then lined with reinforced concrete to create a permanent watertight retaining structure forming the proposed basement.
